French driver escapes unharmed after A8 motorway crash near Walshausen

A 41-year-old French driver and his passenger escaped unharmed after a van and trailer they were driving left the A8 motorway on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. The incident, which occurred near the Walshausen exit while heading from Pirmasens to Zweibrücken, resulted in significant property damage.

The driver, who remains unnamed, lost concentration and steered the vehicle to the right, colliding with the guardrail. The impact also damaged a guidepost and an emergency call box. Both the van and the trailer were rendered unroadworthy following the incident. The total estimated cost of the damage is around €20,000.
