French naval ship Prairial docks in Đà Nẵng to strengthen Vietnam-France ties
A French naval ship, the Prairial, has arrived in Đà Nẵng, Vietnam, carrying a message of solidarity and cooperation. The visit, which comes amidst recent flooding, is part of efforts to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
The Prairial, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Wallerand Faivre D'Arcier, arrived with 93 crew members. The visit aims to boost ties between Vietnam and France, with the crew scheduled to participate in sports exchanges and visit local landmarks, including the city's People's Committee and Military Zone 5.
The visit follows a series of agreements and investments between the two countries. The Francophone University Association (AUF) and Đà Nẵng University have agreed to share scientific research and establish student exchanges. French businesses have invested in 34 projects in Đà Nẵng, with a total investment capital of $25 million. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of cooperation and friendship was signed between Đà Nẵng and the French city of Le Havre.
The French Institute has opened offices in Đà Nẵng and Huế to promote culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges. The French Organisation AFD (Agence Française de Développement) has already signed a framework agreement with the central city of Đà Nẵng for the training of digital specialists.
The visit of the Prairial underscores the strong bonds between Vietnam and France. As Lieutenant Colonel Wallerand Faivre D'Arcier expressed, the French navy is committed to supporting Đà Nẵng in its recovery efforts and looks forward to further cooperation in the future.
