Russia has dismissed calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine and pressed ahead with its military offensive. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, no peace agreement has been reached. Talks between the two sides have so far failed to halt the fighting.

Russia and Ukraine previously held three rounds of negotiations in Istanbul. While they agreed on prisoner swaps and the return of soldiers' remains, a truce was never secured. Former U.S. President Donald Trump was among those who attempted to mediate, but these efforts did not succeed.

Now, U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff will join fresh peace discussions in Turkey. His role is to restart stalled negotiations and push for further exchanges of prisoners of war. The conflict continues as both sides remain locked in battle.

The war in Ukraine shows no signs of slowing, with Russia maintaining its attacks. Diplomatic talks have yet to produce a breakthrough, though prisoner exchanges remain a focus. Witkoff's involvement signals another attempt to revive stalled discussions.
