Fürth’s New Police Chief Vows to Strengthen Safety and Public Trust
Fürth Police Station has welcomed a new director, Andreas Belger, who aims to strengthen the city's safety and narrow the gap between objective security conditions and public perception. Belger, 54, took over the role on October 28, 2025, bringing extensive leadership experience from his previous posts.
Fürth, with an area of 63.35 square kilometers and approximately 134,000 residents, has consistently ranked among Germany’s safest major cities. Around 76 percent of residents express satisfaction with safety and crime levels in the city center. Belger, who previously served as deputy head of Nuremberg-Mitte Police Station and Unit E2 at Middle Franconia Police Headquarters, is committed to maintaining this high standard.
Belger also brings valuable experience from his role as deputy leader of the 'BAVARIA. 360° SAFETY' working group, focusing on enhancing security in public spaces. He plans to use this expertise to bridge the gap between objective and perceived safety in Fürth. Belger is known for his approachable leadership style and commitment to transparency in police work.
Belger began his duties in Fürth on October 1, 2025, and has already made a positive impression at the station. Police President Adolf Blöchl described Belger as the agency’s top choice for the position, citing his extensive leadership experience and dedication to improving public safety.
