Fürth's Theaterstraße shuts down for 24-hour power grid upgrades
A section of Theaterstraße in Fürth will close for underground power supply work starting Monday, March 30. The roadblock begins at 7:45 AM and lasts until Tuesday, March 31, affecting both drivers and public transport users. The full closure of Theaterstraße means several bus stops will remain unserved. These include Stadthalle Süd, Katharinenstraße, Theaterstraße, Mathildenstraße, and Maxstraße. To keep services running, bus route 172 will take a detour via Weiherstraße, Badstraße, Theresienstraße, and An der Post. Passengers can instead use Weiherstraße, Mariensteig, or Mondstraße stops during the disruption.
Private motorists will also face changes. Diversions will route them through Blumenstraße, Pfisterstraße, and Mathildenstraße. Normally a one-way street, Mathildenstraße will temporarily allow two-way traffic to ease congestion. The work is part of ongoing upgrades to the city's power grid. Crews will focus on underground infrastructure, requiring the full closure of Theaterstraße for about 24 hours.
The roadblock and detours will remain in place until the end of Tuesday, March 31. Both drivers and bus passengers should plan extra time for their journeys. Alternative stops and routes have been arranged to minimise delays during the construction period.
