G-DRAGON’s Record $1.5M Donation Saves Hong Kong’s Historic Wang Fu Court
A charity auction in Hong Kong last month drew widespread attention after K-pop star G-DRAGON made a record-breaking donation. The event, held at an unnamed local gallery, raised funds for the historic Wang Fu Court in Tai Po. His contribution of 100 million Hong Kong dollars became the focal point of the evening.
The auction took place on the 29th of last month, where G-DRAGON’s involvement quickly became the highlight. His donation, equivalent to around 1.9 billion KRW or 1.5 million USD, was pledged through the sale of his own artwork. The funds will directly support the Wang Fu Court Support Fund, a government-backed initiative aimed at restoring and developing the heritage site.
The 100 million Hong Kong dollar donation will now fund essential restoration projects at Wang Fu Court. G-DRAGON’s involvement has brought renewed focus to the site’s preservation efforts. The government-backed initiative is expected to move forward with expanded resources thanks to his support.
