Galveston man arrested for posing as a police officer in detainment incidents
A 44-year-old Galveston man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer. Joshua Warner was taken into custody on December 22 after reports emerged of someone unlawfully detaining people while posing as an officer in early November.
The investigation began after claims surfaced in early November that a man had detained individuals while pretending to be a law enforcement officer. Authorities later identified Warner as the suspect behind these incidents. No public records exist of any prior cases involving Warner unlawfully detaining someone while acting as an officer.
Warner now faces two charges of impersonating a public servant. His bond has been set at $250,000 for each count. Police arrested him at his home following the investigation. Galveston Police are asking anyone who may have been detained by Warner or has information about his actions to come forward. At present, specific details about the alleged detainment remain undisclosed.
Warner’s arrest follows a month-long inquiry into the impersonation claims. The case remains under investigation, with authorities encouraging witnesses or victims to provide further details. His next court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
