Geismar's Future Fire Station Hinges on Public Feedback and Jury Decision
Geismar's volunteer fire department will soon have a new fire station. To decide on the best design, the city organised an architectural competition with fifteen proposals submitted.
The public can now view and comment on the designs at an upcoming event. The competition launched in September 2025 and closed in February 2026. A jury will pick the winning design on April 15, shaping the future fire station and its surroundings.
Before that, residents can attend a public viewing on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:45 PM. The event takes place at the clubhouse of SC Hainberg e.V., Bertha-von-Suttner-Straße 2. Doors open at 5:15 PM, and the venue is fully accessible by elevator.
Attendees must register in advance through the city of Göttingen's website. After a welcome and introduction, visitors will tour the fifteen neutral presentations of the designs. City officials, consultants, and jury members will be present to answer questions and observe reactions. The chosen design will guide the construction of the new fire station. Public feedback from the event may influence the final decision. The winner will be announced the following day.
