Georgia Man Gets Life for Fatal Domestic Violence Shooting After Car Crash
A Georgia man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the murder of his domestic partner during a violent argument. Edward Rodley Smith, Jr., 39, shot Breana Marie Rogers on October 7, 2022, following a domestic dispute that ended in a car crash and gunfire.
The incident began when Smith and Rogers, both inside a BMW, became involved in a heated confrontation. Witnesses later told police they heard Rogers shout, 'I'm tired of this,' before the vehicle veered off Stone Mountain Highway and crashed. Moments after the collision, Smith fired multiple shots, killing Rogers.
Smith will spend the rest of his life in prison for the 2022 killing. The case concluded with a conviction for malice murder, ensuring he remains incarcerated with no chance of release. Judge McShane’s ruling closed the legal proceedings on the fatal domestic life.
