German Army Launches Large-Scale Urban Combat Drills in Berlin

The German armed forces, the Bundeswehr, have initiated a week of urban combat exercises across Berlin and Brandenburg. The drills, named Bollwerk Berlin III, will span from Monday to Friday and involve key public locations, including Jungfernheide U-Bahn station.

The training emphasizes close-quarters fighting and the safeguarding of critical infrastructure in densely populated areas. Soldiers from the 2nd Company of the Wachbataillon (Guard Battalion) will engage in scenarios designed to assess their preparedness in urban environments.

The exercises aim to hone the military's response to urban threats and infrastructure defense. Residents and commuters in the affected areas should anticipate minor travel delays until Friday. No additional public restrictions have been announced.
