German Culture Minister Denies Conflict of Interest Over Media Group Ties
Germany’s Minister of State for Culture, Wolfram Weimer, has denied claims of a conflict of interest involving the Weimer Media Group. The accusations centre on his wife’s role as publisher and the group’s ongoing events, including the Ludwig Erhard Summit. Weimer called the allegations baseless and announced plans to take legal action.
Weimer took office in May 2025 after stepping down from his position at the Weimer Media Group. He formally resigned as managing director, with the change recorded in the commercial register. His wife, Christiane Goetz-Weimer, then became the sole managing director of the company.
The minister has firmly denied any wrongdoing and intends to challenge the claims in court. His wife continues to oversee the Weimer Media Group, while the Ludwig Erhard Summit events remain scheduled. The dispute highlights ongoing scrutiny over potential conflicts between public office and private business interests.
