German driver arrested over €9,000 fine for unlicensed driving
A 49-year-old German man was stopped at the Oberwiesenthal border crossing on Sunday after police discovered an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from an unpaid fine for driving without a licence. Authorities confirmed the debt exceeded €9,000. Federal Police officers halted the man during a routine check at the crossing. They found an active warrant linked to a long-standing fine for driving without a valid licence. The total amount owed surpassed €9,000, which he could not pay on the spot. The incident ended with the employer's payment of over €9,000, lifting the arrest warrant. The man was free to continue travelling after the debt was cleared. Police confirmed no further legal action would be taken against him.
