German MPs allowed to fly business class more often - German lawmakers now fly business class on two-hour flights
German lawmakers can now book business class for flights lasting two hours or more. The change follows an internal review that examined how travel conditions affect their work. The decision was approved by the Council of Elders on September 11. Before this update, lawmakers had to fly economy on all flights under four hours. That rule was introduced in April 2024. The review found that cost savings for trips between two and four hours were minimal compared to shorter journeys. The new policy allows business class for flights over two hours. It aims to balance cost efficiency with lawmakers’ ability to work effectively. The change applies immediately to all eligible trips.
