Co-Speaker of Left Party Youth Association 'Solid' Loses Membership Rights - German Left Party Suspends Youth Leader Over Antisemitic TikTok Remarks

Martha Chiara Wüthrich, co-spokesperson of the Left Party's youth wing Solid in Thuringia, has lost her party roles and membership rights for two years. The decision follows a controversial TikTok video where she made antisemitic remarks and downplayed the Holocaust.

The state arbitration court of Thuringia's Left Party branch imposed the suspension after reviewing the case. While calls for her complete expulsion were rejected, the ruling removes her from all party positions with immediate effect.

The disciplinary action stems from a 2025 TikTok video in which Wüthrich compared the Gaza conflict to the Holocaust. She later admitted using the term 'Holocaust' in this context, acknowledging the comparison was inappropriate. The court determined that her statements violated party principles and warranted serious consequences.

As a result, Wüthrich has been barred from holding any party office or mandate for the duration of her suspension. The two-year penalty stops short of permanent expulsion, which some party members had demanded. The exact date of the video's publication remains unclear, as no further details have been made public. The Left Party's Thuringia branch has not commented beyond confirming the arbitration court's decision. Wüthrich herself has yet to issue a public response following the ruling.

The suspension means Wüthrich will remain a member of the Left Party but without any active role until 2027. Her case highlights the party's stance on antisemitism and the misuse of historical references. The ruling also sets a precedent for how similar incidents may be handled in future.
