Two Neighborhood Awards Go to Brandenburg - German Neighborhood Award Celebrates Projects Bringing Communities Together
The 'nebenan.de' Foundation has honoured outstanding community initiatives with the German Neighborhood Award at Berlin's Silent Green cultural centre. The 'Together Instead of Alone' project in Fürstenwalde, which brings students and seniors together, was among the winners.
The 'Together Instead of Alone' project in Fürstenwalde received €5,000 for fostering intergenerational bonds. The initiative brings students and seniors together, promoting social cohesion and understanding.
The 'Hotzenblock' bouldering gym in Waldshut-Tiengen received a special award for its inclusive climbing activities. The gym encourages people of all ages and abilities to participate in sports.
Other winners included the 'Ping Pong Salon' in Neustrelitz, the 'krumm und schepp' food-sharing café in Mainz, and the 'Eppes' project in Wittlich. Each received €5,000 for their community contributions.
Brandenburg won two awards this year. The 'Zeuthen Open Streets' initiative revitalised public spaces in Zeuthen, winning an award worth €5,000.
The 'nebenan.de' Foundation awarded five prizes in total, each worth €5,000. Christiane Schenderlein, Minister of State for Sports and Volunteering, praised the volunteers' dedication, highlighting the importance of community initiatives in strengthening neighbourhoods.
