Federal President Moves Office to MV for Three Days - German President Steinmeier to visit Stralsund for Local Time Germany tour
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will spend three days in Stralsund next month as part of his ongoing Local Time Germany tour. The visit, scheduled from April 14 to 16, marks his 18th stop in the series. During his stay, he will meet residents and carry out official engagements across the city.
Steinmeier's trip to Stralsund follows previous visits in the Local Time Germany initiative, including a stop in Neustrelitz, also in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The tour aims to strengthen his connection with communities in different regions. This time, the focus is on Western Pomerania.
While in Stralsund, the president will hold discussions with local people and visit key institutions. A highlight of the visit will be the presentation of the Federal Cross of Merit to outstanding citizens from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The award recognises their dedication and contributions to society. The *Local Time Germany* series began in March 2025, with Stadtallendorf as one of the early destinations. Since then, Steinmeier has travelled to 18 locations, engaging directly with residents and addressing regional issues.
Steinmeier's visit will wrap up on April 16 after three days of official duties. The Federal Cross of Merit ceremony will honour local achievements, while his dialogues aim to foster closer ties with the region. The tour continues to bring national attention to communities across Germany.
