Charges of Hundredfold Fraud against Property Manager - German property manager accused of €1.4 million embezzlement scheme
A property manager from Flensburg is facing serious fraud charges after allegedly embezzling around €1.4 million. The case involves nearly 400 incidents of misconduct, with over 1,200 tenants and landlords reporting financial losses. Authorities have now seized over €1 million in assets linked to the suspect.
The accused diverted client funds into his personal accounts between January 2019 and December 2023. His actions led to the collapse of his 53-year-old firm, which declared insolvency just before Christmas 2023. Since then, affected parties have formally reported their losses to Schleswig-Holstein's consumer protection agency and the insolvency administrator.
The man is also under investigation in a separate case involving the misappropriation of tenant security deposits. Prosecutors claim he fraudulently withheld around €250,000 meant for renters. No trial date has yet been set, but proceedings will take place in Kiel, where the prosecution specialises in economic crime and corruption. If convicted, the seized assets—totalling over €1 million—could be returned to victims. For now, those affected remain in limbo, awaiting the outcome of legal proceedings and the possibility of recovering their money.
The case has left more than 1,200 tenants and landlords out of pocket, with many still hoping to reclaim lost funds. Prosecutors continue to investigate, while the insolvency administrator works to assess the full extent of the financial damage. The trial's eventual outcome will determine whether victims receive compensation from the seized assets.
