German Social Association Urges New Bundestag to Boost Pensions, Combat Poverty
The German Social Association (SoVD) has extended its congratulations to the newly elected and re-elected members of democratic parties on the constitutive session of the freshly elected Bundestag on March 25th. The association has emphasized the urgent need to stabilize and raise the pension level, reduce poverty, and design nursing and healthcare in a future-proof and solidarity-based manner. It has also warned against using the budget axe in the social area due to the growing social divide and challenges facing Germany.
SoVD has welcomed the new German Bundestag's plans to strengthen the social security, poverty, and care sectors, and to relieve social security systems. The Bundestag is set to allocate around 140 billion euros for pensions and age-related basic security by 2026. SoVD has called on the new Bundestag to modernize structures and increase labor market integration as key reforms. The association has also urged the new Bundestag to strengthen the trust of the people in the ability of the social state to act and to place social security at the center of its politics. Additionally, SoVD has appealed for a fairer tax policy and a sustainable reform of the debt brake.
The German Social Association has made its expectations clear to the newly elected Bundestag. It hopes to see a commitment to improving the lives of citizens through increased investment in social security, a fairer tax policy, and a sustainable reform of the debt brake. The association believes that these measures will help to strengthen the trust of the people in the social state and address the growing social divide in Germany.
