German startup founders battle stress as 85% report severe mental health struggles

Startup founders in Germany face intense pressure, with 85% reporting severe stress and nearly half struggling with mental health issues. To address these challenges, Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) has launched free support services tailored to their needs. Among these is SocialPizza, a platform designed to simplify social insurance complexities for new businesses.

A recent study highlights the toll of entrepreneurship: 49% of founders experience depression or anxiety, while over half battle insomnia and burnout. Kerstin von Diemar, co-founder of Curevision, stresses the importance of organization and teamwork to avoid chronic stress. She advises clear task division and strong collaboration as key preventative measures.

TK’s services aim to ease the burden on startup founders through accessible, low-threshold support. While no specific mental health programs for founders are currently listed, existing tools like SocialPizza and Mindset Matters address key challenges. The Health-i Award further highlights the potential for innovation in the sector.
