Chancellor Merz Welcomes Croatian Prime Minister Plenković in Berlin - Germany and Croatia Strengthen Ties Ahead of Critical EU Summit
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will welcome Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković in Berlin on Wednesday. The visit includes an official reception with military honours at 12:30 PM, followed by high-level political talks.
Plenković, who has served as Croatia’s prime minister since 2016, leads a coalition government formed after the April 2024 elections. His conservative Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) partnered with the far-right Homeland Movement to secure a majority.
The meeting marks another step in German-Croatian relations under Plenković’s leadership. Decisions made during the talks could influence Croatia’s stance at the approaching EU Summit. The press conference later in the day will provide official updates on the outcomes.
