Germany and Kazakhstan strengthen cultural ties at historic Berlin meeting

The 21st German-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission met in Berlin on Wednesday. The session, co-chaired by Kazakhstan's Roman Vassilenko and Germany's Natalie Pawlik, discussed boosting cultural ties and supporting the German minority in Kazakhstan.

The commission explored ways to strengthen the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan's role in nurturing national cultures. Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Vassilenko praised Kazakh Germans as a 'living bridge' between the two nations, crucial for future relations.

Pawlik, the German Commissioner for Foreigners and National Minorities, confirmed her government's commitment to backing Germans living in Kazakhstan. The session concluded with the signing of a joint communiqué, outlining plans for collaborative projects promoting Kazakh German identity.

The 21st meeting of the German-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission ended with a pledge to bolster cultural and humanitarian links. Both sides agreed to support Kazakh Germans, acknowledging their importance in bilateral relations. The next steps include implementing joint projects to preserve and promote Kazakh German identity.
