Germany Arrests Suspects in Forged Passport, Language Certificate Scandal

German authorities have arrested several individuals in Cologne and Hamburg on suspicion of fraud and document forgery. The incidents are linked to a larger investigation involving forged passports and language certificates.

In Cologne, police apprehended three men aged 54, 36, and 40 at a language school. They are accused of using forged documents to obtain German language certificates. The suspects allegedly used fake passports from Guinea, Ghana, and Togo, each with different German IDs bearing other names.

The arrests follow a wider investigation into the KVR (Kreisverwaltungsreferat) scandal in Munich. While three individuals were previously charged in that case, their identities remain undisclosed. Meanwhile, in Hamburg, a 34-year-old man without a residence permit was also taken into custody during a search. Authorities continue to investigate three other men, aged 44, 36, and 38, whose details were found in the forged passports.

The arrests in Cologne and Hamburg are part of an ongoing investigation into document forgery and fraud. Authorities suspect the individuals of obtaining language certificates using forged passports to facilitate immigration. Further details and charges are expected as investigations continue.
