Last Illerkirchberg Rapist Deported - Germany Deports Convicted Criminals to Afghanistan in Controversial Taliban Deal

A group of convicted criminals has been deported from Germany to Afghanistan under a new bilateral deal with the Taliban. The first direct charter flight carried 20 offenders, including a man linked to a high-profile gang rape case. The move has sparked debate over human rights concerns and the government's engagement with Afghan authorities.

The deportation took place on a flight from Leipzig to Kabul, organized without third-party mediation. Among those removed was a 22-year-old convicted for his role in the 2019 gang rape of a minor in Illerkirchberg. He had served multiple years in prison before being sent back.

Two other convicts from Baden-Württemberg were also on the flight. In total, four men tied to the Illerkirchberg assault have now been deported. The group included individuals found guilty of sexual offences, violent assault, and drug-related crimes.

While exact figures for Baden-Württemberg's Afghanistan deportations remain unclear, broader 2025 statistics show 1,841 cases across all destinations. The Taliban's human rights record continues to draw criticism, even as Germany proceeds with such agreements.

The charter flight marks the first under a direct deal with the Taliban, bypassing previous reliance on third countries. All four men convicted in the Illerkirchberg case have now left Germany. The government has not disclosed further details on the offenders' crimes or the total number sent to Afghanistan.
