Germany Joins Global Fight Against Child Marriage on International Day of the Girl
Plan International, a renowned children's rights organization, is gearing up to raise awareness about girls' rights worldwide. This year, the focus is on the pressing issue of child marriage and early marriage. The United Nations designated October 11th as the International Day of the Girl at the initiative of Plan International in 2011. In Germany, Plan International encourages buildings to be lit in pink and pink flags to be raised on October 11th. This year, the city of Halle (Saale) will join the initiative by hoisting pink flags in front of the city hall.
