Germany praises Switzerland’s NATO alignment and revised arms export rules

Germany has welcomed Switzerland's recent diplomatic moves, including its support for EU sanctions against Russia and its plans to revise the War Material Act. This comes as both countries' foreign ministers, Reem Alabali Radovan and Ignazio Cassis, held talks in Berlin.

During the visit, Cassis and Radovan discussed international development cooperation. They also expressed support for the US plan for the Gaza Strip, focusing on ceasefire consolidation and Hamas disarmament.

Germany has praised Switzerland's decision to revise its War Material Act. The revision allows weapon transfers to third countries and export to armed conflict states in extraordinary situations, a move welcomed by Germany. Additionally, both countries agree on maintaining open trade, with Germany and the EU supporting Switzerland in its customs issue with the USA. Switzerland's security cooperation and rapprochement with NATO have also been viewed positively by Germany.

In their talks, both ministers called for dialogue and de-escalation in Latin America regarding US operations against drug smuggling. Johann Wadephul, Germany's foreign minister, assured Switzerland of Germany's solidarity in the ongoing customs dispute with the USA.

Germany and Switzerland have reaffirmed their close diplomatic ties, with both countries expressing support for each other's policies and initiatives. These discussions underscore the importance of bilateral relations and cooperation in international affairs.
