Germany Sends 30 Tons of Aid to Lebanon via EU Air Bridge

Germany has dispatched nearly 30 tons of humanitarian aid to Lebanon as part of the EU Air Bridge Mechanism. The supplies, organised by the German Red Cross, will travel by truck to Maastricht before flying to Beirut. This effort comes as international support for Lebanon continues to grow.

The German Red Cross loaded the shipment at Berlin Airport. It includes essential items such as tents, blankets, and kitchen sets. These goods will first be transported by road to Maastricht, where they will join the EU's air bridge to Beirut.

By March 2026, the initiative had expanded significantly. Thirteen additional countries and organisations now contribute alongside EU member states. The list includes the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Nations.

The aid shipment marks another step in the EU's coordinated response to Lebanon's humanitarian needs. With more nations joining the effort, the air bridge mechanism continues to deliver critical supplies to those affected. The German Red Cross's contribution adds to the growing international assistance reaching the country.
