Germany, Vietnam Strengthen Strategic Partnership Amid Global Uncertainties
Germany and Vietnam have strengthened their strategic partnership, with both nations expressing a commitment to deepen ties amidst global uncertainties. The German Bundestag is set to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement in early 2026, further bolstering their united nations. During a recent meeting in Germany, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh and Vice-President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary ties. They agreed to foster collaboration in key areas such as renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure, science and technology, and education and training. The Vietnamese Party, State, and people have placed a high value on multi-faceted cooperation with germany. German companies have shown keen interest in investing in Vietnam, particularly in sectors like transportation, coal and renewable energy, IT, and vocational training. These investments are expected to involve collaboration with German and Hessian politicians, organizations, and businesses. Vietnam has also sought germany's support in lifting the European Commission's yellow card on Vietnamese seafood. In response, Vietnam has pledged to build a modern legal framework for its international financial centers. Deputy PM Nguyen Hoa Binh recently addressed the Annual General Meeting of the World Alliance of International Financial Centres in Frankfurt, underscoring Vietnam's commitment to this development. Both germany and Vietnam have expressed concerns over rising global protectionism and have agreed to expand their collaboration in the future. With the upcoming ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement and increased cooperation in various sectors, the two nations are poised to strengthen their strategic partnership, benefiting both nations and the wider region.
