Traffic accident figures for the first nine months of 2025 have been released by Germany’s Federal Statistical Office. The data shows a slight drop in injuries and overall accidents, though fatalities remained nearly the same. September’s numbers, however, revealed a rise in both collisions and deaths compared to the previous year.

Between January and September 2025, a total of 1.84 million traffic accidents were recorded. This marked a 1% decrease from the same period in 2024. During these months, 224,000 people suffered injuries, also down by about 1%. However, the number of road deaths stayed almost unchanged at 2,148.

The overall trend for 2025 shows a small reduction in accidents and injuries, but road deaths have stayed largely stable. September’s figures, however, highlight a worrying increase in both collisions and fatalities compared to the previous year.
