Germany’s Digital Day 2025 Explores the Future of Democracy in a Connected World
Germany’s sixth Digital Day brought together thousands of participants to explore the theme of 'Digital Democracy'. The event featured over 2,500 activities and more than 5,000 hours of programming, focusing on civic engagement, digital security, and the challenges of misinformation. Organised by the 'Digital for All' alliance, the day highlighted both the opportunities and risks of an increasingly connected society.
Federal Digital Minister Dr. Karsten Wildberger opened the livestream, stating that digitalisation fosters connection and drives societal progress. His remarks set the tone for discussions on how technology can strengthen democracy while addressing threats like hate speech and disinformation.
The event showcased tools for digital civic participation while addressing key risks in the online space. With broad involvement from government, education, and industry, the initiative continues to push for greater digital inclusion across Germany. The next Digital Day is already planned for 2026, ensuring ongoing dialogue on technology’s role in society.
