Germany’s Digital Health Leader Susanne Ozegowski Steps Down December 1

Dr. Susanne Ozegowski is stepping down from her role as head of Division 5, 'Digitalization and Innovation', at Germany’s Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) on December 1. Her successor has not yet been announced.

Ozegowski, who holds a master’s degree in public health from Humboldt University of Berlin and a doctorate from TU Berlin, has been instrumental in driving digitalization in healthcare during her tenure. She oversaw the nationwide rollout of the e-prescription and the launch of the electronic patient record (ePA).

Before joining the BMG in 2019, Ozegowski served as head of corporate development at TK (Techniker Krankenkasse). She also led the groundwork for the Health Research Data Center and the further development of Gematik. Prior to this, she worked as managing director of the German Managed Care Association.

Ozegowski thanked her colleagues and stakeholders for their collective efforts in advancing digitalization in healthcare. Her departure takes effect December 1, 2025, and her successor has not yet been announced.
