Germany's Economy Calls for Political Backing on Digital Self-Employment

Germany's economy urges political support for digital self-employment. Bitkom, a digital association, plans to boost transparency and accessibility of its research. Meanwhile, a new study delves into companies' trust in suppliers and geopolitical influences.

The economy calls for simplified bureaucratic processes, improved digital infrastructure, and better financing options for startups and small businesses. A 'One-Stop-Shop' for business registrations and promotion of digital innovation are key demands.

Bitkom, set to publish its next study report in two weeks, will focus on attitudes towards the 2025 federal election. Additionally, its 'Digital Sovereignty' study explores companies' trust in suppliers, influenced by geopolitical tensions.

Currently, the EU, China, and the USA are the primary sources of digital imports, with 96% of German companies relying on foreign digital technologies or services. Alarmingly, 90% of these companies feel dependent on these imports.

Germany's economy needs political backing for digital self-employment, with simplified processes and enhanced infrastructure. Bitkom, meanwhile, will increase transparency with the 'Bitkom Dataverse' and regular study reports, starting with its upcoming election-focused study.
