Government Provides Three Million for Better Soundproofing in Clubs - Germany’s €3M Plan to Save Music Venues from Noise Complaints

The German government has launched a €3 million program to help music venues and festivals reduce noise levels. Starting in January 2026, the initiative will fund soundproofing measures to prevent closures caused by noise complaints. Housing Minister Verena Hubertz has emphasised the need for new solutions to balance urban living with cultural spaces.

The program was developed by the Federal Ministry of Construction in partnership with the nonprofit Initiative Musik and the LiveMusikKommission. Its goal is to keep cultural institutions open while easing tensions with nearby residents. According to Initiative Musik, many venues struggle to afford soundproofing due to rising costs.

The €3 million allocation will directly support clubs and festivals facing closure threats. Successful applicants will receive financial aid for soundproofing upgrades. The program’s outcomes could shape future policies on urban noise management and cultural preservation.
