Germany's Facts on Tap Quiz Turns Pubs Into Fact-Checking Battlegrounds
A new pub quiz called Facts on Tap is touring Germany to tackle disinformation in a social setting. Organised by CORRECTIV, the event invites people to test their fact-checking skills while enjoying a drink. The campaign blends education with entertainment, aiming to make conversations about facts more accessible. The quiz will take place in pubs, bars, and inns across the country. Participants will work together to analyse headlines, social media posts, and AI-generated content. The format encourages discussion, teamwork, and lively debate over fact-based questions.
CORRECTIV publisher David Schraven believes pubs are perfect venues for these conversations. The first tour includes eight locations, but smaller towns and rural areas can still apply to host future events. Beyond physical gatherings, the quiz will also run online through CORRECTIV.FactCheck’s channels. The initiative seeks to introduce more people to the CORRECTIV.FactForum. By making fact-checking interactive, organisers hope to sharpen participants’ ability to spot and evaluate misinformation. The relaxed setting lowers barriers, allowing newcomers to engage with the topic in a fun way.
The Facts on Tap tour combines fact-checking with social interaction. It offers a hands-on way to learn about disinformation while connecting with others. The campaign’s success could expand its reach to more communities in the future.
