Germany's Green Party launches high-powered economic advisory council

The Green Party's parliamentary group in the Bundestag has formed a new economic advisory council. Around 50 executives, board members, and entrepreneurs will take part, with the first meeting set for 2 March.

The council brings together leaders from different industries and company sizes. Notable members include Leonhard Birnbaum, CEO of E.on, Stefan Kapferer, head of 50Hertz, and Dirk Jandura, president of the BGA. Former state secretary Kapferer also joins, having previously served under FDP minister Philipp Rösler.

Katharina Beck, the Greens' spokesperson for economic and financial policy, explained the council's purpose. She stated it would offer concrete and realistic perspectives on economic matters.

The advisory group will begin its work with an inaugural session on 2 March. Its members include high-profile figures alongside representatives from smaller businesses. The council aims to shape economic discussions with practical input.
