Germany's ITK Sector Booms with Remote Work and Record Investment
Germany's ITK sector is thriving, with 61 percent of employees working remotely and businesses reporting a very good situation in June 2022. The Bitkom-ifo Digital Index has risen to 22.8 points, reflecting the sector's robust health.
The sector is also investing in its future, with over a third of ITK companies planning to increase investment in research and development this year. This trend is expected to create around 30,000 new jobs in the ITK sector by the end of 2022, bringing total employment to approximately 1.3 million people.
Sales in the digital sector are projected to increase by 4.3 percent to 189 billion euros in 2022, demonstrating strong growth. However, digital companies face challenges, with electricity costs rising by 19 percent, although this is lower than the 34 percent increase seen in the overall economy.
The ITK sector in Germany is experiencing significant growth and investment, with positive trends in employment, sales, and business sentiment. Despite challenges such as increased electricity costs, the sector remains resilient and optimistic about its future prospects.
