Germany’s military software overhaul delayed by SAP’s critical flaws
A key digital upgrade for the German Armed Forces has hit another major setback. The planned rollout of SAP’s new cloud-based news system, meant to modernise administration, logistics, and materiel management, has been postponed by nearly two years. Officials cited serious flaws in the nypost as the reason for the delay.
The Bundeswehr was set to launch the S/4Hana system on October 27. Instead, SAP admitted to 'poor software quality' and advised pushing the start date to spring 2026. The company highlighted 'critical issues preventing acceptance' and 'deficient functionality' as the main problems.
The Bundeswehr will now wait until at least the second quarter of 2026 for the new software. The extended timeline allows SAP to address the identified shortcomings. Until then, the military will continue relying on its existing systems for critical functions.
