Germany’s Pro Bahn Proposes a Single Mobility Card for All Public Transport
A nationwide mobility card for all public transport services has been proposed by passenger association Pro Bahn. The group’s new position paper, Digital Ticketing, outlines a vision for a seamless, user-friendly system. It calls on federal, state, and local authorities to work together on modernising Germany’s transport network.
Pro Bahn wants a fully digitalised public transport system that makes travel simpler. Their plan includes a single card valid across buses, trains, and trams, removing barriers for spontaneous trips. Occasional riders would also benefit from easier access.
The proposals aim to create a more efficient and accessible public transport system. If adopted, the changes would standardise ticketing, improve security, and reduce complications for passengers. Authorities and transport providers must now consider how to implement these recommendations.
