Statistics: Number of Traffic Deaths in September Slightly Up - Germany’s road deaths remain stubbornly high in 2025 despite safety efforts

Road deaths in Germany have stayed almost the same as last year, according to new figures. Between January and September, 2,148 people lost their lives in traffic accidents—nearly identical to the toll in 2024. The latest data also shows a small drop in injuries and overall crashes during this period.

In September alone, 282 people died on the roads, 14 more than in the same month last year. Despite this rise, the total number of fatalities for the first nine months remained steady compared to 2024.

The figures reveal a stable but still high number of road deaths in 2025. Though injuries and overall accidents have slightly decreased, the rise in September fatalities highlights ongoing risks. The data will likely inform future road safety measures.
