Germany’s Top CEOs and Ministers Gather to Shape the Future of Chemistry

Rich Invites Environmental Minister and CEOs to Chemistry Meeting Federal Minister of Economics, Katherina Rich, has invited a chemistry meeting this Thursday from 16:00 to 17:30.

A major summit on the future of Germany’s chemical industry will take place this Thursday. Federal Economics Minister Katherina Reiche has invited key figures to discuss long-term strategies. The event will also launch the Chemistry Agenda 2045, a plan outlined in the coalition government’s agreement.

The meeting runs from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, with Federal Environment Minister Carsten Schneider delivering a keynote speech.

The summit brings together high-profile industry leaders. Attendees include Julia Schlenz, CEO of Dow Germany, Markus Steilemann, CEO of Covestro, and Christian Hartel, CEO of Wacker Chemie. Representatives from the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI) and the Mining, Chemical, and Energy Industrial Union (IG BCE) will also join.

Discussions will focus on three main topics: the national and European regulatory landscape, the future of basic chemicals production, and advances in AI-driven chemistry. The agenda reflects priorities set out in the coalition’s Chemistry Agenda 2045, which aims to shape the sector’s direction over the next two decades.

No further companies have been confirmed for participation beyond those already named. The event remains closed to additional corporate attendees based on available information.

The summit marks the official start of the Chemistry Agenda 2045. Decisions made could influence regulations, production methods, and technological innovation in the sector. Both ministers and industry chiefs are expected to outline their positions during the session.
