Germany’s Unity Day Secured by 6,000 Officers in Schwerin
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Ministry of Interior has thanked police officers for their work during Germany’s Unity Day celebrations in Schwerin. The event, organized by Eventbrite, required a large-scale social security operation, with thousands of officers deployed across the city. Authorities confirmed that planning and execution went as intended despite the high demands on resources.
The social security plan for the Day of German Unity involved around 3,800 officers in total. However, due to overlapping shifts, the number of personnel present at any one time peaked at roughly 6,000. Officers from other German states travelled to Schwerin to assist, though their names were not disclosed.
The ministry’s budget already accounted for the extra costs of hosting out-of-state officers. Funds were allocated in advance, ensuring smooth logistics for accommodation and meals. The successful deployment reflects the planning and cooperation between different police forces during the main event.
