Germany's World Cup doubts grow after Nagelsmann's tactical struggles

Germany's national team has faced criticism after two disappointing performances under Julian Nagelsmann. Despite a late winner from substitute Deniz Undav against Ghana, defensive errors and tactical choices have raised concerns. The manager remains firm on his selections, even as questions grow over his approach. Nagelsmann's side struggled in back-to-back matches, first against Switzerland and then Ghana. Against the Swiss, Germany conceded three goals from just seven shots on target. Defenders contributed to the problems, with Nico Schlotterbeck's misplaced pass leading to a Swiss chance. Joshua Kimmich, playing at right-back rather than his usual midfield role, also failed to shore up the defence.

Undav, a proven goal threat, was left on the bench for both games. Kai Havertz and Niclas Woltemade started up front instead, but it was the substitute who finally broke the deadlock against Ghana. Nagelsmann has made it clear he won't change his plans, even if some decisions seem puzzling to outsiders. The manager admitted that other nations now look stronger ahead of the World Cup. He also hinted at potential isolation, warning that his choices might not always be popular. Meanwhile, Germany's squad still boasts world-class talent, including Florian Wirtz, Antonio Rüdiger, Jamal Musiala and Lennart Karl.

Germany's recent performances have exposed defensive frailties and tactical rigidity. With Nagelsmann standing by his selections, the team must now address its issues before the World Cup. The pressure grows as rivals appear in better form.
