Ghana MP backs Justice Paul Baffour Bonnie as next Chief Justice
Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimiah, has endorsed Justice Paul Barffour Bonnie as the ideal candidate for the position of Chief Justice of Ghana. Ibrahimiah praised Bonnie's rich judicial experience and strong moral character during a parliamentary vetting.
Ibrahimiah quoted Bonnie's statement, 'The Constitution of Ghana entrusts the Chief Justice with a dual responsibility to adjudicate cases with fairness and to safeguard the credibility and moral authority of justice itself'.
Ibrahimiah celebrated Ghana's past female Chief Justices, Georgina Theodora Wood and Justice Sophia Akuffo, highlighting their remarkable contributions to Ghana's judicial system. He described Bonnie as a man of humility and strong moral values, recalling how Bonnie once left his job at the Prison Service to marry his wife.
Ibrahimiah praised Bonnie's 17 years of service on the Supreme Court, stating that his vast experience and deep understanding of the law place Ghana's judiciary in 'very safe hands'.
