Ghanaian fraudster jailed 12 years for stealing a Ford mini truck in scam
A Ghanaian court has sentenced Kwabena Osei Bonsu to 12 years in prison for defrauding a vehicle owner. The conviction follows a scheme where Bonsu and his accomplices tricked the seller into handing over a Ford mini truck worth GHC260,000. The group posed as buyers but vanished with the vehicle after falsely claiming payment had been made.
The incident began when the complainant, Rexford Amanor Tetteh, advertised his Ford mini truck for sale. He agreed on a price of GHC260,000 with Bonsu and his associates—Shirley Kusi Appiah, Diana Boakyewaa, and a man known only as 'Ben'. The group lured Tetteh to Madina, insisting they had completed the transfer, but fled with the truck while he checked the payment.
The sentence marks the end of the legal proceedings against Bonsu. His conviction confirms the fraudulent scheme targeting the truck owner. The remaining suspects, however, have yet to face justice.
