Ghana’s 2026 Budget Slammed as ‘All Slogans, No Solutions’ by MP

Davis Ansah Opoku, MP for Mpraeso, has sharply criticised the government’s 2026 Budget Statement. He described it as 'heavy on slogans but empty on substance' during a recent parliamentary session. His remarks highlight growing concerns over the budget’s lack of clarity and practical solutions for Ghana’s economic struggles.

Opoku argued that the budget fails to offer measurable policy direction for tackling pressing issues. He pointed out the absence of concrete initiatives to boost growth or cut unemployment in key sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and small businesses.

The criticism comes as the budget faces scrutiny over its feasibility. Without detailed costings and schedules, Parliament may struggle to endorse the proposals. Opoku’s demands reflect wider calls for greater accountability and practical solutions in economic planning.
