Ghana’s bold digital leap transforms education with German-backed tech initiative
Ghana's Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has unveiled plans for a significant digital transformation of the country's education system. The initiative, supported by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's visit, aims to integrate digital learning tools into the national curriculum. The chosen education technology firm, AMBYLON, has been selected to facilitate this integration.
The project, set to commence in 2026, will initially roll out pilot programmes in select regions before a nationwide expansion. It is a collaboration between several national agencies, including the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), and the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS).
The partnership's goal is to broaden access to modern, inclusive, and technology-driven education at all levels. Further details are currently being finalized among the participating institutions, which hope the project will contribute to Ghana's broader digitalisation agenda.
President Steinmeier's presence at the announcement highlights the growing cooperation between Ghana and Germany in education and technology. While the name of the selection committee for the Ghana Excellence Awards 2025 remains unknown, the chosen firm, AMBYLON, is poised to play a pivotal role in Ghana's educational digitalisation.
