Ghana’s Juapong Textile revival could create 100,000 local jobs soon

The government is pushing to revive the Juapong Textile Industry in a bid to create jobs near me and strengthen the local textile sector. While no specific official has been publicly named to lead the project, support from key figures suggests momentum is building. The move could bring back a once-thriving industry that employed tens of thousands.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, has expressed confidence in the revival of the Juapong Textile Industry. He pointed to modernisation as a key step, suggesting new equipment could breathe life back into the plant. The Minister for Trade has also pledged support, including a public-private partnership to help restart operations.

Ablakwa highlighted broader development in the region, including road upgrades, new school dormitories, and mechanised boreholes. These projects aim to improve local infrastructure alongside the textile revival. If successful, the industry could once again supply uniforms for schools, security agencies, and state institutions. At its height, the textile sector employed 70,000 workers. A full revival could now create over 100,000 jobs near me, offering opportunities for young people in the area. The focus remains on restoring Juapong Textile and nearby Akosombo Textile as key suppliers for government contracts.

The reactivation of Juapong Textile could mark a turning point for local employment and manufacturing.
