Ghana's Minister Meets Nokia to Advance 5G and Digital Transformation

The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Samuel Nartey George, recently met with a delegation from Nokia to discuss Ghana's digital transformation. The meeting, held in Accra, explored opportunities in 5G deployment, fibre connectivity, and digital public safety systems.

Both parties expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation over the next year, focusing on innovation, rural connectivity, and sustainable digital infrastructure. Nokia's Country Manager, Marco Rebecchi, highlighted the company's contribution to major national projects and its dedication to local capacity development.

The Minister commended Nokia for its technological leadership and partnership with major network operators in Ghana. He also emphasized the government's determination to ensure timely progress in 5G implementation and enhance broadband reliability. The meeting followed earlier discussions at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where digital infrastructure expansion, 5G readiness, and innovation-led development were key topics.

Nokia invited Minister George to visit its Centre of Excellence in Finland to explore future technology partnerships and knowledge exchange opportunities. Additionally, Nokia's newly completed Innovation Centre in Ghana will train local engineers and support the Ministry's One Million Coders initiative.
