Giessen Hosts Free Workshop on Rising Israel-Related Antisemitism in 2026
A free public event on antisemitism linked to Israel will take place in Giessen on March 26, 2026. Organised by the DEXT Expert Center and the Youth Education Agency, the session aims to explore how such prejudice spreads and how to recognise it. Registration is required by March 24.
The event, titled Israel-Related Antisemitism, runs from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Jokus Youth and Cultural Center on Ostanlage 25a. Anika Schleinzer, an expert from the Hesse State Office for the Protection of the Constitution, will lead the discussion.
Since the Hamas attacks on Israel on October 7, 2023, reported antisemitic incidents in Germany have surged. According to RIAS data, cases rose from around 1,200 in 2023 to over 4,000 in 2024. Schools and universities saw a notable increase, accounting for 20% of incidents in 2024—a trend continuing into early 2026.
Attendees with a JULEICA youth leader certification can count the three-hour session toward their qualification renewal. While entry is free, participants must register in advance by March 24, 2026.
The session will provide tools for identifying and assessing antisemitism related to Israel. It also offers a chance for educators and youth leaders to update their training. Organisers encourage early registration due to limited capacity.
