Gießen prepares for pivotal local elections and advisory council votes on March 15

Local elections and foreign residents' advisory council votes will take place in Gießen on Sunday, March 15, 2026. Polling stations across the city and district will open at 8 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. that day. Preliminary results will be shared later that evening at Hermann-Levi Hall in Gießen Town Hall.

Voters in Gießen city and the surrounding district will cast their ballots for local representatives and advisory councils. The process will follow a set schedule: polling stations remain open for ten hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Once closed, officials will immediately begin counting the votes.

On election night, only direct party list votes will be tallied. Altered ballots, which require extra checks, will be processed the following Monday and Tuesday. This ensures accuracy before final figures are confirmed.

Preliminary outcomes will be announced at 6 p.m. in Hermann-Levi Hall. Those unable to attend can follow updates online via the 'VoteManager' portal at www.wahlen.votemanager.de. The platform will display real-time results as they are verified.

The election covers both local councils and foreign residents' advisory bodies. Officials will release initial counts on Sunday evening, with full results finalised later in the week. Voters can track progress either in person at the town hall or through the designated online portal.
