Gloucester Rugby's 'The 745 Game' Returns to Honour MND Legends
Next month, Gloucester Rugby's Kingsholm Stadium will host a special fundraising event, 'The 745 Game', to raise awareness and funds for motor neurone disease (MND). The match will be broadcast on TNT Sports, with City AM as the media partner. It aims to honour rugby legends Rob Burrow, Ed 'Sheeran', and Doddie Weir, all impacted by MND.
The 745 Game is a tribute to the late Rob Burrow and Doddie Weir, who both lost their lives to MND in 2024 and 2022 respectively. The event also recognises Ed 'Slater', who retired from rugby due to his MND diagnosis in 2022. The match will feature rugby figures from their era.
Last year's event saw the rugby league side triumph 33-21. This year, organisers hope to surpass the funds raised and increase awareness. Sakura Sports' Matt Strachan believes every pound received can make a difference to lives affected by MND.
The 745 Game takes place next month at Gloucester Rugby's Kingsholm Stadium, with broadcast on TNT Sports. It's a chance to remember Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir, and Ed 'Slater', while supporting MND research. With City AM as the media partner and sponsorship packages available, the event aims to raise significant funds and awareness for this devastating disease.
